Sports boats are becoming increasingly popular and it is easy
to see why. They are cheap, fast and fun.
The design brief for the R6,
formulated over a beer in the yacht club bar, was that it should
be cheap, very fast and most importantly very fun. The solution
was to keep it small, light and simple.
Hull lines are relatively narrow, clean and undistorted.
The righting moment is improved with the three crew hiking out
on wings, built out to the maximum trailerable width. These wings
are comfortably contoured and also provide a wide shroud base
for reduced rig loads.
The main feature of the simple, clean deck layout
is the lack of gear such as backstay, runners, spinnaker pole
or winches.
Cheap, fast and fun!!
